High PR change - from PR0 to PR4 - why?

    Hello all,

I just have a quick question for you.

Two of my domains got from PR0 to PR4 during this PR update without me building any significant backlinks. They only show about 2 backlinks each - but many indexed pages 200+ (non unique content).

What do you make out of this? Is it certain that they will drop their PR, or could they stay that way?

    Thanks in advance

I think your PR will drop because of the non unique content, or you've been lucky and got some high PR backlinks free.

That looks weird. If you use the Google toolbar, sometimes the PR from last visited website stays on the bar. So, this is not the real PR. If this is not the case, I think this is temporary or you have been very lucky like jayw1988 said. Usually PR is look to build, especially PR4. Anyway, it does not seem to be a problem in your case. Let us know if that improves your traffic.

well this is nothing you should complain about, id say check the backlinks you have and what pagerank they have, i also got 2 domains from pr0 to pr4 with about 6 backlinks on each, of course the backlinks had a high PR aswell

    out of those 6 backlinks:

    1 PR6
    1 PR5
    4 PR4

and all backlinks are from the same niche

edit: you may provide your domain so i can check out the situation

It's possible but rare. Sometimes a single backlink can be much more valuable than the rest combined. And you may have just got one of this.

You should thank your stars and google too, since in spite of all odds, you have managed to fool their system and eek out a good PR....

You're one lucky guy! If you want to retain that PR, you should start building links for that site.

I would say to use this opportunity to build link exchanges with other PR 4 sites in your niche. I don't know how much value there is in link exchanges these days, but most agree its better than nothing. I find most sites won't link to another site with less PR. This is sad but true. I've had some responses where sites said they loved my content, and that they would be happy to exchange links "once my PR had gone up". In general, sites only link to sites with same or higher PR.

Grab the bull by the horns and take it for a ride.
