So I built a site in mid-June and submitted it to about 10 social bookmarking sites. A few days later, I ranked #6 for my keyword (not overly competitive). Let's say this site was about Widgets. I have another site about Widgets, a PR5 to be exact. So after about a few weeks sitting at #6 and not moving, I added a backlink from my PR5 website. Within a day, my newer site disappeared off Google's SERPS. It was still indexed however. A few days later, my site came back but at the 100th position. It stayed like that for the past 5 or so days. My question is, when is the best time to introduce high PR backlinks? Is it a matter of website age? other existing backlinks? I was thinking that next time I will social bookmark a site, use web 2.0 properties to build 10 or so backlinks, try to get a few related low pr sites to link to me and then introduce the higher PR backlinks. That will seem more natural. What are your thoughts on this?
You may of thrown up a red flag as being a link farm. If I checked both domains on the whois, is the owner the same? Plus, you mentioned they had similar content. It sounds like a penalty, but could also be the "alleged" sandbox that Google says they "don't have" I know I didn't really answer you final question, let's see what others have to say.
Thanks for your reply man. The sites are hosted on completely different hosts and have different IPs, I don't think that the link would trigger a link farm filter. As far as the content being similar, I guess what I meant to say was relevant.
Yea sites new to the google index bounce around a lot for the first three months or so. It could have happened because of the pr5 link you added, or maybe it didn't. Does the new site have a lot of content on the homepage, or just a little bit? If it just has a little bit of content, it could have a high bounce rate, and google doesn't like that.
Adding a link from a PR5 is not going to hurt you in the least. Pretty much the only time you get in trouble for inbound links is with a new site that has no Google trust, and you kick it off with a bunch of spammy links from bad neighborhoods.
The more links the more backlink, no more links backlink is very rare, as I only have about 12 backlink. A number too poor.
I just saw this identical posting on another IM website. Out of curiosity, how many forums did you post this thread on?
