I know that high pr backlinks builds a site's pr, but wouldn't these links also help serp rank? Forgetting about pr, what is better to raise your serp rank? 20 pr 3 related backlinks or 1 pr 7 related backlink? What other factors affect serp rank including on site seo? Everyone keeps saying forget pr and focus on serp rank, so what do you need to do to focus on it?
But if your pr not high,i think nobody could exchange to you.And the high quality backlink is hard to find.
Yes, high PR backlinks help our position in SERP. But high PR sites is not necessarily high in SERP. Read my analysis here: http://norhafidz.com/say-no-to-pagerank/ about "20 pr 3 related backlinks or 1 pr 7 related backlink?" I do believe PR7 will bring a huge different in your serp
Get as many related backlinks as you can to your sites to increase your serp, of course the higher quality of the backlinks (domain age, authority, traffic, low outbound links on the site, high PR...) the better
Well.. as far as I know, SERP's doesn't completely depend on PR. Content is important first.. If your site has good content, it'll automatically get good rankings in search engine.
Other than links, focus on content based on a network of related keywords can also help you to rank better.
Let me put this way -- SERP= Relevant high PR backlinks. There are other factors as well -- like domain age, outbound links - If the PR7 page is relevant to my site - I'll try to get it if it has no more than 36 out bound links. But if it has too many links -I'll prefer - 20 PR3 links taking into account that they are relevant too. As my previous poster said - Anchor Text is very important these days.
SERPS depend on a mix of links (PR), internal SEO, content and domain age. With regards to internal SEO, look at working your keyword combinations into title tag, <h1> - <h6> tags, the content, alt text, the internal URLs, the image names etc. Don't overdo it or Google will penalise you for spamming.
For the backlinks, what about the nofollow attribute? Is it no good getting relevant backlinks if they are nofollow?
My PR changed recently from 0 to 4 but my SERP didn't change. It means that there is almost no connection between the PR and the SERP.
Besides on page optimization, your next step on achieving high ranking is off page stuffs. Link building plays an important role to it, just make sure that you get natural links. Links that are from high pr sites and related to your niche.
SERP's are updating all the time, say if you get a PR5 backlink. Give it some time and it will take effect on your SERP. pageranks update very little so you probly would have already seen the effect. When my pagerank updated I saw my SERP increase even though it was only from 0 to 2.
According to my observations to rank high in Google SERP one needs as many backlinks from pages with similar content as possible. PR plays its part but high number of relevant backlinks even from low PR sites will get you to top. Even internal linking will raise ranking of your pages. Keyword "spamming" in content is still not penalized by Google and does fool Google to prefer very high keyword density pages. Google still thinks the more the best. I can't understand how Google algorithms are still unable to detect the purpose and quality of the website if it's pages contain like 60 links and 40 of them have the targeted keyword in link title with one or two extra words. High quality content never has very high keyword density. To give you an example: Google for: hostgator coupon First result for me is: www.hostgatorreview.org/hostgator/hostgator-coupon/ It's index page has PR 2, so subpages obviously have less. Take a look at the site structure and linking. Search from yahoo to see the number of inlinks: site:www.hostgatorreview.org/hostgator/hostgator-coupon/ So basically PR2 site wins over PR4 site (www.hostgatorcoupon.com) which has about 3 times less inlinks. Ofc one must remember that Google probably likes .org in www.hostgatorreview.org too and the title of the pages is also better targeted - just "hostgator coupon".
