I think that is just speculation. I use adsense tracking scripts on most of my sites and I see no evidence at all that clicks coming via google searches generate more money than those from non-google searches.
That's my point exactly: no good reason, and it's no fair. My thinking is that it's a conceit, an arrogant position on the part of G, that their traffic is far more valuable to their AW advertisers when compared to traffic from other search engines. AmCy
Certainly, it's just speculation. I don't work for G so I am not making any official statements here. I'm just sharing my thoughts and opinions on the matter. As always, as always, IMO. AmCy
Hmmm... it's not that I want to debate what you have observed on your sites but I find it hard to believe that Google would act in this manner. They are in business to make money and acting this way does not help them achieve maximum revenue, which doesn't make sense. I think it might be possible that they pay less based on the keywords entered by the searcher (regardless of the engine that referred the traffic), as a factor of the adwords smart pricing. That would seem to be more "googlish" than paying less for non-google-driven traffic just to spite their competitors.
You'll notice that when clicks come from sites targeted around your keyword, you'll get top dollar. Try it for yourself and you'll be amazed
I have noticed this same lower than expected results from what should be high paying keywords too. I believe it is causes by excessive increases in supply of sites offering traffic for that keyword(s). I have actually made better money off pages with $2 keywords than $10. It might also help if you use the tools on this site to discover the depth of the market for the keywords in question. I usually start by entering a bogus url that only contains the keywords with a strange extension or multiple dashes like [adsense-----keywords.la and if it comes back with 20 ads then I feel confident that there is a stable market for that keyword. I have been assuming that your CTR has not gone south because if that was the case I would suggest that maybe your keywords are too far off what your traffic is interested in. Try using a more general less competitive keyword and see what happens.
Using the Overture bid tool will give you the amount that a keyword is worth on the "search" network (the ads that show on Google, Yahoo, etc.. itself), but these are not necessarily the amounts that the "content" network pay. And the content network is what we, as publishers, are involved in. BTW, the Overture bid tool is here: http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/
welcome back ? any updates for several theory included in this thread perhaps? I'm thinking about the traffic come form G will give better result, since I never have any traffic from them.
Anyone have satellite tv site? The satellite tv site is supposed to have the highest CPC in my sites, but it's only half of the average CPC. As it's my busiest site, I really want to try YPN on it. Edit: remove the figure to avoid possible TOS violation.
