I am not talking about dmoze. maybe they takes years to approve free submissions. or never approve.. most of PR5 sites approve within a week.

Thank you for the list, the only problem is that most of the high PR directories have no PR beyond the homepage which is what I am really looking for. It would be great to have a list of sites that had some PR throughout the categories and pages, not just the homepage.

Most of the directories listed in there don't approve links in ages. Some haven't approved even one link in years. What's the use submitting to a high PR directory if it's never going to approve your link?

Dude you feelin alright? You're never ever going to find free directories with internal PR. Not unless you use SEQuake but even then then doesn't guarantee you'll find internal pages with PR that are best for the category or niche you're in.

Stop thinking about "PR" and start realising that Google doesn't rank you high in SERPS because you have high "PR". It's all down to relevant backlinks my friend and link directories are perfect for that because you get put into the right "category". So just keep submitting to link dirs and you'll blow your competitors out the water!

PS. Thanks for the list (y)

Thats a massive list, will take me some time to work through all that, has anyone tested those
    directory submission software programs?

Would be great if I could slice off sometime from manual directory submissions, they take ages
and it's not exciting the most exciting activity either!

High PR for home page of directories - isn't so important. PR of categories pages is more importantly - where links will be placed. Also some directories with high PR place redirect or nofollow links.

Would you like to explain to us, what PR has to do with 'no-follow' tag?

It's good that you mentioned www.dmoz.org , but I wouldn't advise to submit there during first year from the launch of your site. Anyway it takes 6-7 month for approval and if they don't accept you- you lost the posibility to enter to this most important directory forever
