High Page Rank!

    Hello all,

I was reading an article about improving your page rank by linking to a website that has a high page rank. The article mentions that if you buy a link on a high page rank site i.e. PR 7 for a month and your site gets crawled during that period, then you end up getting a high PR. It also mentions that all you need to do is have the website place your link on their website for only a month. If your link is taken out after that one month, does your PR stay the same or does it drop? The reason for asking is because i don't want to spend the money and then have my Page Rank drop. Does anyone have an idea about page rank and how it works? All your advice is appreciated.

Thanks and have a great weekend everyone.

The page rank will drop on the next PR update.

If you want to try to manipulate PR, you probably want your links live for a minimum of 6 months. It'd be better to get permanent links though.

You should be worrying about climbing up the SERPs and getting traffic to your site instead of getting high PR

The only thing PR is good for now is getting link requests from other webmasters.

Pr is also important for getting advertisers. Sites with high pr get great ad rates. Some people may not due business with sites that have low pr due to lack of credibility.

    Well a couple of things

"I was reading an article about improving your page rank by linking to a website that has a high page rank'"

It is the other way around if a website with a high page rank links to your site then you will get a back link to your website which will help to your sites pr but it all depends on the sites PR that is link to you. e.g. 1 pr7 link to your site will result in a PR5 on your site. (but it is not instant you will have to wait untill google updates there PR database which usuallt happens every 3-4 months.)

"If your link is taken out after that one month, does your PR stay the same or does it drop?"

Yes it will drop when google updates.

    Hope this helps you.

I honestly dont see the point in buying High PR links like that.

Why dont you just register an account at linkmarket.net and build the links yourself? with there google pr tool you can see which sites have the highest PR and send a request to exchange with them.

After a month your site will just drop back to its ald PR, Build quality links with a site that has a large number of links and you will be good to go.

    Best of luck.

I am sure at one point Google will punish sites that use link market or other programs of that kind. They always just one or two steps behind the 'hottest' linking strategies out there.

Build links manually. Use directories. Contact related websites and exchange links. Ask people to link to you. Use good and legal SEO on your site itself. Be patient!!!!!!! Slow growth and slow increase of Pagerank will pay off and get better results in the long run.

I have a site that I have been working on getting links back to and adding content to, etc since 2001. Ive slowly built it up and now it has a PR of 5. I see no traffic increase really since it had a PR of 1 etc, Google at their bourbon update dropped the SER back so far it's not even being found, yet I just checked and the sites PR is 5, so what the heck does having a high PR rank do anyway ?

I am not sure what PR is worth anymore. I know it doesn't seem to effect your position in Google. Yahoo and MSN don't care about it either.
