High hits low impressions

About 4 weeks ago, I launched a new site. It is a wordpress blog covering Firefox Extensions and news and it is using adsense for revenue generation.

Since launching I am receiving on average, about 24 unique visits a day (via awstats). But when I go to check Adsense, I might have 2-6 page impressions.

I thought each time a page loaded that contained the adsense code, it counted as an impression.

Each page has adsense code embedded so I think I should have on average 24 impressions.

    My questions:
Am I wrong or do I not understand unique visitors and adsense impression

Since I am using wordpress, will my stats be screwed up b/c of all the different files my wordpress template uses?

well, if you didn't make 24 impressions by yourself, how can you know 18 - 20 of them show PSA's ads?

I visit the site once a day when and if I post content. Other than that I leave it alone.

On a couple of occasions I have been away from a PC for a couple of days and I still will have a dozen or more unique hits.

As far as PSA, I believe most of them don't have the PSA's any longer, however I don't check every page.

Does a PSA not count as an impression?

These are rookie questions I know, but compared to my first site, it is getting twice as many hits in about a fifth of the time. I am trying to figure out that if the audience does like the content I need to make sure I optimize accordingly.

No, I think PSA's ads will not count as an impression since there is CPM cost from some advertisers.

Well, you never know. Sometime we got PSA's so often. I got it so often on one of my website, then I have to change/add some contents/keywords.

Optimization will scarcely matter. The only people interested in Firefox extensions are Internet savvy users, and they rarely, if at all, click on Adsense ads.
