Some people are bloggers and make more money that way. Others own websites and make more money that way. Some do both. An imporatant thing to remember is A blog and A website are both weblogs none easier to update than the other....it boils down to individual ability & skill.
Might want to rethink that after checking out just a few of the blogs below. http://www.calacanis.com http://www.problogger.net/archives/2005/01/06/about-darren/ http://wisdump.com/ http://9rules.com/ http://www.jensense.com/ http://www.shoemoney.com/ I'll take any of their money any day..... especially shoemans lol and I'll take his hummer too...
This will greatly depend on what your view of a Blog is. The lines between a Blog and a website isn't that distinct. If by Blog, you mean that it will be about anything and everything, then you'll have a hard time getting it noticed. I've found that it's better to focus on a website dedicated to one topic, providing good content on everything related to that topic. It's much easier to promote and get a normal site noticed, as oppossed to trying to get a Blog filled with your random thoughts, into the spotlight. Blogs can be profitable as well, but they take more work. Unless you are very well known or have a great writing style or way of doing things then you might not get your Blog noticed. Even if you do extensive promoting.
I would also say that blogging tends to require more work. I know bloggers who work 12 hours a day, pumping out 20 or 30 posts who make a lot less than I do from web sites I created years ago and rarely update. Blog readers tend to demand new posts every day. Evergreen web sites can bring in dollars years later.
I still do feel that websites tend to earn more than blogs. Yes, there are certain blogs which rake in the moolah, but people tend to prefer sites for advertising. Agreed that content plays a big role, where blogs have an upper hand, but they do need to be constantly updated... But if you are a newbie to the world of Adsense then blogs are the way to go.... A vote for websites here
But don't forget that a lot of blogs are just like websites this days... the difference between them is getting smaller and smaller...
My vote goes to website. I had a lot of difficulty inserting adsense and other links (amazon) exactly where I wanted them in a blog template. you get much more control with a website.
my blog is the highest traffic sector with almost 25% of total traffic and the easiest to maintain. as such the blog brings an exactly proportional income as any static page sectors I have - as of today CTR on blog equal to static pages ( i.e. some 5+% for yesterday and eCPM also average ) hence if both used correctly - then both are identical it finally depends all on SEO clean SEO gives precise keywords / adwords targetting resulting in top SERPS and individual/interesting adsense displayed. BTW today is the first time the blog has a CTR equal to site average after some additional efforts on my side. before i always has about 1% lower ctr than site wide average. after the june 27 data loss event at google ( for details see other threads ) - the blog was the first section of my site being fully back in G index with apparently all pages and all serps as before
I didn't know that websites earned more than blogs. I am making money with my blogs only, but it takes too much time to update. I can't post everyday to all. I am think that one much hire someone to write his posts.
The whole basis for this discussion is wrong. This would belike asking, what's faster, a car or a BMW?
My Monte SS with 500hp and 475 torgue smokes most BMWs for dinner.. Horsepower sells cars Torque wins races
