Hi, My website is a Wordpress site, using a highly customized Striking theme. I am using the Royal Slider Plugin for my slideshow, along with a couple other small plugins to have certain features. I used to have a drag n drop flash style site and experienced a bounce rate of only 10% or less. Ever since going to a wordpress site, my bounce rate surged to 50% and now over 70%. I have no idea why, when i go to my site, on my computers and phone it loads fast (i always clear the cache). I made sure to lower the image file sizes to keep the load speed up. I use the lazy load feature on my slideshow plugin. Can anyone help me get it lower. Any design help is always welcomed too. You can visit my site at www.jonmphotography.com Thanks, Jon
hello there, You can check your theme, make a direct link to the js and css files used instead of the default php queries. Try to use less js files or compress them content. At all for one your website load good and fast, are you on shared hosting !?
to be honest i wouldnt know how to play with the js or css on a big scale, i only know how to modify the in page content. the hosting is through godaddy, i dont think its shared hosting.
With shared hosting i mean you have a Premium Hosting or you use a VPS server! because that can be a Godaddy issue not your website!
Ok. My first post here. The header and menu area. The fonts are way to small. Im on a 1080p 23" screen and cant even tell what it says without zooming in a couple of clicks. Your Header, AKA Your name and whatever that little scribble is under it. Entirely too small. You need to decrease the size of your main image scroller and you need to make the "featured weddings" button content already expanded or use some css/graphics to make it stand out as a clickable action button. At first look I didnt even realize that it was expandable content. Also, If you want to invest the initial attention to your image scroller I would style the exisiting one to be a little more functional and robust. Theres plenty of scrollers out there with fade, gradient and thumb nail control for the end user. Otherwise I think you have a nice clean layout and a pretty good site. **Heh, whats with the font on my post.
As newrykillz said, it's got some major accessibility failings -- such as the use of a inaccessible fixed width layout, absurdly undersized fixed metric (px) fonts, false simplicity on the inaccessible label-less form, illegible color contrasts on that false simplicity, and javascripted nonsense that could be making people think you actually have no content under the "Featured weddings" and "Value" sections, which do not have enough visual indications that they open, and do not auto-open when clicked on from the menu. Though I'm wondering how the devil you would have anything BUT bounces given the goofy javascript hide/show nonsense with no actual sub-pages. If there are no actual sub-pages of content for people to visit, with half your navigation elements/subsections slapped into one single page -- anyone who doesn't visit the first three menu items is treated as a bounce -- while you waste time (and bandwidth) loading content people might not even view (or figure out how to view)... the title with the plus sign is NOT a sufficient visual queue to tell people to click on it and see that content. Under the hood the page has other woes -- the javascript to just make the page harder to use being the tip of the iceberg. The HTML 5 bloated nonsense (not a fan), the idiotic "let's wrap the HTML tag in five different conditional comments" that Paul Irish came up with, and of course the traditional Turdpress "let's throw classes and extra wrappers around everything for no good reason" means that I would advise pitching the entire site in the trash, as there is NOTHING worth salvaging from it if you want to use it for a business. Though really that's turdpress in a nutshell -- cute for personal pages of amateurs who don't know any better, with ZERO business being used on legitimate websites for actual businesses... Mated to some rubbish off the shelf template, and you're just begging for a steaming pile of /FAIL/ure. No matter how many sleazeball scam artists out there will try to tell you otherwise.
Hello, Way to reduce website bounce rate: 1. Less your website loading time 2. Check out - website is mobile usable or not? 3. Turn off the auto play 4. Use instinctive navigation for important items 5. Reduce image file size 6.Check out design, contrast and color
