High amount of funds in Paypal

I have heard claims of people saying that their Paypal account was frozen after they reached a large sum of money. ($1,000+) I was curious to know if anyone here has experienced something like this and if you did, did you get your account unlocked?

Just hoping for someone to shine some light on the subject for me and confirm/deny these claims.

PayPal clearly states that 1500 per month is the cap for a non Business verified account.

    Interesting.

But there is no way to "upgrade" the account and remove the account freeze status?

You just have to verify your social security number, or do some other verifications, then the $500/month withdraw limit is removed.

Use business account for accepting higher payments.

There is no such statement from paypal.

Use a business or premier account, most of the accounts frozen here are personal accounts

Business or premiere account doesn't make any difference except for multiple access (for business account). Paypal more likely to freeze the account if high payment received from Ebay item. They won't bother much if payment received from other source than Ebay.

I have a Premier account and every month I received over $1,000 and I do not have any problem.

Basically, you are not supposed to be making money with a personal account and thus you have a cap since they want to prevent misused of the account, however you can use a personal account to receive mass pay or from your friends as long as it is nothing commercial.

If you have a premier or business account, they will not limit your account because you get a lot of money. What is important is that you operate your business above-board and have all the necessary documentation to prove that you bought and sold your items. As long as you do not break any contractual terms such as use fake documentations and do not do things which are prohibited by Paypal, you should not get your account limited.

I believe you heard of GoDaddy and Namecheap, they both accept Paypal payments and I believe they would inevitably have several thousands of dollars each day and they dun face any problem.

Even if they do frezez it you can get the money back after 6 month anyway. They can not "take" the money from you.

Yup, I read that as well but couldn't recall the actual sites. I think it's something which paypal termed as money laundering. The amount is usually like $3000+.

I've had over $8k in a day (verified business), and $1500 (personal) never had an issue. They did however call to ask the nature of my business and about the transaction. But I answered a few simple questions and was on my merry way. Cash deposited to business bank account.

    Luck of the Irish?

I've maxed out total transactions for a personal account and then upgraded it. I think it's around £1500 (so, $3000)

They're tricky though, very hard to get in touch and when I did the call center was in India and the line was so poor we couldn't communicate.

I've never had a problem, and have often had $2000 plus with a business account.
