Hiding Affiliate Links

I recently came accross a post on another forum and someone mentioned hiding affiliate links using a combination of no follow tags and 301 redirects so the search engines cant read the aff link.

Is this effective? Most my sites are aff sites. If I swap all the links out this way should I see some improvements in SERPs?

Any idea how much the search engines discount sites with aff links on them. And how many aff links per page before you trigger a filter of some sort. Best guesses.

my sites are mainly affiliate sites as well, and google/overture don't seem to care how many affilaite links you place on your site. I don't think they would have any problems with affiliate links.

Don't do to many 301 redirects... you will get banned!
