In my opinion, hidden text is not a good thing. Many search engines view it as keyword spamming.

Don't hide any words. Google will penalise you big time! Take my advice. It's worth it in this case.

Geral consensus is that hidden words do hurt your search rankings. Used to be a time when you visit a website and if checked the source html it was bloated with hidden words. Most search engines can detect this to an extent and punsih any rankings that page may have.

Just hit Control "A" to see if any hidden text is there. If there is, get rid of it.

I used this two years ago after watching a website with keywords stuffed into alt tag of an image.
I also inserted alt tag on my logo with repetition of one keyword. It increased my position that time. I kept these for more than six moth or so than removed after hearing too much about google ban.

It is still better to play safe, if there is a risk of being banned you better avoid it.

Alt tags are fine, and they can help. Hidden text on the page itself or in CSS won't help you in the SERPS and will get you a ban. You should never present anything to a search engine spider that the visitors themselves can't see.

It'll be a matter of time. To be honest it doesn't give you much of an advantage if any at all. Too many random keywords just take the emphasis away from the important keywords.

You won't rank well from removing them, you just won't get banned. Try to spend some time on building links, or properly optimising your code on you site if you're looking to improve your rankings.

Have you included the keywords in you H1/H2 tags, alt tags, body text, bold and italic text? These will do you far more good in the long run than adding hidden content.

uhm...try to avoid hidden text....that'll only make your site banned.

i agree with MattUK , follow the white hat SEO and avoid blackhat SEO.
