would it be best to all the URL http://myname.com or http://my-name.com, I`m hoping that using the hyphen `name` will help with Google optimization, though at the same time I need a simple domain name to advise to clients over a phone call, I hope that you Guru`s out there may be able to give me some good advice :)

    thanks in advance,
    Fluxpattern.

They both work fine. Which ever one you can get will be ok.

Since they will not make any great SEO difference, you should focus more on your clients. Choose the one easier for your clients.

Choose the one without the hyphens. This is better for branding purposes and clients will be able to remember it better. Hyphens are usually associated with spam sites.

Also, if you register the hyphenated version, you will undoubtedly send traffic to the unhyphenated version. If you don't own both, you'll be sending traffic to a competitor.

In terms of SEO, the hyphenated version has little value over the unhyphenated version as the engines are getting better at determining the difference. webhosting is better than web-hosting for example.
