You should contact Google directly and tell them that you account has been disable without valid reason althought it's almost impossible to recover your account.

Is there a method to protect ourselves from this kind of "bad competition"?

If you were honest, contact Google, otherwise you got what you deserved.

How would Google be able to tell the difference between one of your friends clicking on lots of ads because you asked him to and a stranger clicking on lots of ads for his own reasons? All Google can see is that having you display ads is harming their customers (the Adwords publishers). It's understandable that Google doesn't want to do business with you any more.

Now your only option is to file an official appeal. There should have been a link in the email you got from Google. You need to explain to Google that you know where the invalid clicks came from and how you will prevent invalid clicks in the future.

There is a small possibility that Google will reinstate your account, but you should be looking into alternatives.

It is surely possible for Google to detect the ways about the fraud clicks. They have solid proof system where they can detect this thing easily. There are two possibilities certainly, that either one of his friends is clicking on ads frequently or some of the competitors of that adv is clicking on that ad.

Still it was the mistake of thread owner that he didn't notified Google of this and this is why he has less probability to get his account activated. Better to contact Google customer care about this.

The only way to get your amount back is to call and request. If possible, just call and check with themselves only if they can help you retrieve your amount/account back. But, the chances are highly unlikely. However, there is nothing wrong in trying.

I got my account disabled with more than $300 in it. It wasn't anything illegal from my point of view, i sent them all about my website traffic and everything that they required, but nothing happened ..

You should reply back and tell them about the truth, but remember once they paid money back to advertisers they can not take it back :p so forget that $90 :(
