Cost-per-Action(CPA)
Cost-per-Sale(CPA)

Basically, affiliate program is same like traditional marketing process. You get paid when someone buy from your link. You promote the product of the vendor through various means: article marketing, PPC, email marketing, SEO and the likes. In return you will get commission when someone buy through your recommendation.

umm ok here is a scene

Gillette make a razor..but they dont come directly to you to sell it.
they deliver it to wholesalers and then the whole seller sell it to retailers

finally you buy it from reseller

in this whole scene
whole sellers and retailers has there share or profit.

similarly affiliate scheme is a thing in which manufacturer gives product to you and then you sell it and keep some percent of profit

 

Basically, you're selling someone elses product/service for them. And for every sale you make, you get a commission, a percentage of money from that sale. Hope that helps.
