I'm a freelancer and I heard some of you guys are great at making money, so I figured I'd join and read and lurk and ask reasonable questions (NOT "how do I make money online?") and learn how to do better than I'm doing now. I'm struggling right now to make $100 a day writing and blogging. Unfortunately, I fell into the content mill trap when I first started, and am now having a hard time breaking out of it. I keep applying for private clients, and either get turned down or never hear back. I'm a little discouraged, but my friend says she had to apply for 30 jobs on ODesk and 50 on Elance before she got hired, so I'll keep applying. In the meantime, I'll keep cranking out meaningless, overedited crap for whoever will pay me. Looking forward to being a part of the forums.
Hi Angelpie, Just keep up writing and blogging. You can also offer your content for sale in the Content forum and perhaps offer a free review copy of some content or a cut rate price. Once you have a rep on DP you will get more buyers.
Welcome to DP......Possessing writing talent isn't enough, you also have to believe in yourself. I have made enough posts on DP proving my abilities, that clients contact me asking me what my rates are. My rates are very high in comparison to the norm on Content Creation forum for example, and I'm too busy to accept most clients anyway. But even so even at my rates I get extra work here, and when I can't or won't do it I refer writers to them from DP. Attitude has a lot to do with it. If you believe that you are exceptional and portray that, guess what? Clients are prone to believe that too.
Thanks! It's hard not to get discouraged. Whether I am great or horrible seems to depend on who is reading my work, so I don't know which I am. I'll take your advice, though.
Welcome to DP angelpie I am sure you will fit right in here and hopefully you will learn more skills here at digitalpoint. I would be interested in some prices of what you charge per 100 words if you would like to pm. Thanks Ian
