Morning everybody. Phantom309 here from. FL. Just started learning web development through a Udemy course. I have two projects that I'm working on and trying to figure how to do certain things.

The first project is a website for a business I'm involved in. I'm trying to learn how to set up "workspace" for each of us and make it customizable for each user, but also be able to share notes between each other. I don't even know if this is possible and way over my head at the moment.

The second website I want to create involves a game I play and it allows replays to be uploaded to a site. I want to figure out how to make heat maps from those replays of team deployment to help other players get better. In the spirit of transparency. There is another site that already does this. Last time I looked though it hadn't been updated since 2021, and when I check this morning it looks like it they put everything behind a pay wall. I intend to keep mine pay wall free but may set up a donation button to help offset any costs incurred.

I apologize for being so long winded. I hope to learn a lot while I'm here and hopefully teach someone something with my very limited scope of knowledge in this area. See y'all around

Thank you SarahK. I have a steep hill to climb as all this is new to me. I'm a mechanic by trade, but of the mindset that anything is learnable if you are willing to study and out the time in. I too like heat maps, and if I can figure this out I feel I can create a decent site for the game.

Hi Phantom309, welcome to the forum!

It sounds like you're working on some interesting projects. Setting up workspaces for each user and making them customizable is possible, and several ways exist. One way would be to use a content management system (CMS) like WordPress or Drupal. These CMSs allow you to create different user roles and permissions, giving each user their workspace with their own set of permissions.

Another way to do it would be to use a framework like Laravel or Django. These frameworks give you more control over the code to customize the workspaces.
As for making heat maps from replays, this is a bit more challenging, but it's doable. There are several different libraries and tools that you can use to do this. One popular library is Plotly.js. This library allows you to create interactive charts and graphs, including heat maps.

You can also use a service like Google Cloud Platform to create heat maps. Google Cloud Platform has many different tools and services that you can use to analyze data, including heat maps.

I'm sure there are other ways to do these things, but these are just a few ideas.
