Stop wasting mine and other members of DP with announcements of various web directories. One week it's a directory up for submissions from within this category. Next week when I check if my site is approved, IT'S a blog. I wont come for the 3rd week where obviously you will have changed it to something else. The quality of the web have never been so bad as it is now. Read and learn how to create a quality website and stay focused. Pfffft
It happens man, calm down, try submitting to high page ranked directory, or paid. That way there is less chance of being closed.... I mean it was just a submission
Yes, it wastes your time but if you are using a tool like informenter you can be in and out in less time than it takes to do all the checks. Comes down to efficiency in the end.
It happens from time to time but since it takes a fraction of a second to submit your site... who cares. I agree completely with sarahk
Obviously this will not be read by the people its targetted at, lol, and even if it is, they are hardly going to grant your wish. Im off to tell the drug dealers on the corner to stop selling their junk.....
thats was a truly valid point. But the urge to earn money without having a clear focus lead to such changes. People think making a directory will make them a fortune so they make it. But soon they realize, blog will be more useful - they shift it and in the end they feel online work is not for them and thus they shut down the website
Just wanted to share my experience. Im not wasting my time on crap anymore. Most people here sees a PR4 directory as good just because it has a Page Rank of 4. Im more interested to see the relation of a backlink to that site. If someone starts building backlinks for a directory and then changes industry to a blog. There's not much value left for the old backlinks. (In most cases) I can find gambling related sites with PR4 trying to sell links to others running gambling sites. 95% of them have no backlinks from a related site. This means the PR4 link someone might buy for their gambling site has 0 value. This is really SEO 101 and most people here should know about it, but they don't. Thanks that's all for now!
I totally agree with you, i can definately understand the frustration, the types of people doing that want everything yesterday, they expect instant success. I think what happens is when anyone comes up with an idea, in your head you can make it just how you want to, so you can choose to only see it succeeding, coming up with ideas is the fun bit, its easy to ignore the boring part of the work, promoting it, getting it rolling, i was once talking to a guy who came up with a business idea and already talked himself out of it within 15mins of that conversation, once i pointed out some of what would be involved he lost the buzz and was no longer interested. I have a sister who wont even try and sell her stuff through her own ebay account because shes too lazy to setup an ebay account, setup a paypal account and read the relevant info.
I stopped submitting to 99% of the free directories because of this and worse. What a lot of free directory owners do is offer free submissions for a couple of weeks then try and sell the directory for hundreds of dollars as a directory with traffic.
May be it takes more time for me -- but IMHO - its worth it. Before you submit to any directory offering free submissions - follow some basic steps -- # First type on Google - " thisdirectoryurl " #Check its indexed pages " site:thisdirectoryurl " If things look good - then you can go through with your submission. On the other hand - if you are paying for a directory review - two more additional steps are required -- #Check the site on " archive.org " # Check if the particular category is indexed . These way - you could easily distinguish between Kids and Grown Ups. If you follow these steps - you will not fall for those claiming - -> Submit Free to My Pr 4/5/6 Directory <-
I tend to stick to directories with a directory themed domain name. Not ones like winthelottery.blahblah or thedayjob.whatever these are the ones that generally dont stick around for long once the owner realises its harder than they fought it would be to make money
@jhnrang : nice information... just show what people need to know... important : stay with directory that use drop domain, because that directory make for sale , not all directory owner like that..
Wrong forum, announcements are next door. And how many times has that really happened to you? So you've been around since 1957? Pfffft[/QUOTE]
