Hey I'm here to learn

Hey guys i joined to learn from you guys. I am a college student with a goal of creating a forum where other students across the country can meet, become friends and colleagues. A relaxing yet professional place and I have just created the site but I won't link it not that I am sure I even can but it would be wrong to join and just shove my website here.

I really just want to know what kinds of sites you guys run, how you got them running as you did and other things about seo and advertising. I know a lot of you guys are webmasters and I am positive there is a lot of experience here.

did you create or plan on creating some kind of site?

 

Yes. I have a Computer repair site I created a couple of weeks ago.

 

My site is just over a week old, not doing so well with getting people to join

 

Why is that?? How have you advertised the site?

 

Mostly through word of mouth, emailing college friends and organizations, the random google stuff, webmaster analytics, bing, trying to get my site crawled and indexed. Trying to make my site seo with all the little features that come stock. Of course its nothing heavy duty, not even close but i want to do link exchanges with other related sites.

The thing is no one wants to join an empty forum, I am trying to keep it active with me and another admin but every single member that joins is a spambot that gets instabanned

my college friends are too busy to register too, they have promised to do it but those never go that far haha

yea its www.collegeconnects.us .I don't know how spammers find my site so fast. I need so much feedback on this site and my partner is not the best at providing it.... There is still a lot of graphic work that needs to be done and I also want to know which theme looks better
