How do I make it so certain keywords on my blog do not trigger my adsense ads? I published an article about a band called Crystal Castles that has a song called Magic Spells and I've got all sorts of weird love potion spell advertisements on my page at http://caseysblog.net. Thanks a ton in advance, I really really like this forum. I registered the other day and haven't posted much but I've been reading for hours sponging information.
Make sure that you don't use the keyword "magic spells" too many times in your post. The other thing you can do is use the competitive ad filter to blocks ads from the sites that are displaying the magic spells. Finally, you can use section targeting to tell AdSense to ignore the "magic spells" keyword. Note that section targeting takes up to 2 weeks to work.
advice by ttomp13 is good but I wouldn't worry much about it, if someone was advertizing anything about magic spells the music band, then ads would show up.. so adsense is simply showing "some" ads that might be of interest to your visitors, or not.. You just have to write more articles about other things and don't focus on one particular page and the ads on it, don't waste time on this, it should be adsense's job because it's also in its interest to provide good ads so they get clicked and they get paid.
Yeah I see what you mean. I added more content to the blog and it changed favorably to the way I think it'll work better, and is now advertising more relevant content. Thanks a ton for your guy's input.
Add as much content as you can. But the content must be of good quality. Afterwards practice some SEO. Play with your keywords. You must succeed.
If you want Google to ignore part of your content you can use section targeting. You can visit this site to learn how to use section targeting for your blog.
i concentrate on using the keyword on the title ,h1 and related keywords in h2 - i also maintain an appropriate keyword density and this gives me the perfect ads that make people click on them.
