Hey all, Most of you won't know me, in the past I have kept myself to myself (even with a LOAD of posts , well maybe not a load but a fair few...). Anyway just saying i'm back for the next years probably - so all should be good... I have a few questions, firstly is the membership actually worth it? Please be honest.... Secondly, I'm planning on making a hosting company and some blogs (again), is wordpress still the best platform? And how easy is it to setup a hosting website, whats a good re-seller webhosting company? Many thanks, Josh
Hey, welcome back to DP! I think the membership is worth it if you are an avid user of the BST section. Wordpress is still the best platform for making a blog on as it is the most customisable and simplest to use. It's pretty easy to set up a hosting website if you have some basic experience as a webmaster and maybe know a bit of HTML/CSS/PHP.
Membership isn't worth it to me personally, but if I had the money lying around, I'd probably buy it anyway just for the few perks.. I think it will get better though, and in time it will be a more common thing to buy membership.. Wordpress is better than ever, and still takes the lead! Setting up hosting is easy, but people are more sceptical about reseller hosting than ever now, so if you plan to set up hosting on a reseller plan, watch out - most people are very wise to it now and are so sick of the poor service they get from resellers, that they tend to only seek out people who own their own hardware.. Or at least rent out dedi's.. Chuckun
I agree, it's so easy to get hold of dirt cheap reseller hosting and even master reselling hosting now which comes with such a terrible service. People have grown wise now though. I've decided to simply go directly to a really reliable host - MediaTemple.
