Here's Yahoo's reply to my request to get unbanned

Discussion in 'Yahoo' started by briandunning, Sep 16, 2005.

I used the form to request Yahoo to put my two banned sites back in the index. I decided to leave to coop links on the sites. They replied no, and here is their reply:

There you have it, folks. Yahoo doesn't like the ad network. :(

The coop isn't really a "reciprocal link" program.

The page you listed has a bunch of possible factors:

Did they specifically say it was the coop?

Post the exact mail you received..It seems you are paraphrasing it to exclude all the reasons on that page as Guy from Chicago said.

Did they actually send you the mail as you quoted it?

If you look at my post I quoted the reply they gave me which includes the reason I remain banned.

So they put those 3 dots and cut and paste just one reason (excluding the rest of the list)?

You say "includes"...What does that mean?

    Sounds sketchy

Sorry, but the entire email contains live links, so you will need to take the issue up with whatever juvenile pumps his ego by giving me negative feedback at every opportunity - I'm not able to post it.

I think your original post is very decieving and your ban could be down to anything on that list.

Saying that Yahoo says the DP Advertising Network is a link farm is false.

The fact you won't print the actual letter pretty much shows you edited it to make it look that way (not that I don't believe you would edit it at this point to save face anyway)

I can't figure out why you even started this thread

Dude I got this same email for two of my sites, fixed what I thought needed fixing (had some old landing pages that we had forgotten about) and now I am back in the in index, never touched the link network stuff and they put me back.

Yup..thats the one. I just wanted to see if Brian would post it.

That is nowhere near what he posted in his first post which he used as "proof" that Yahoo sees the advertising network as a "Link farm"

I guess that message is auto generated email, because I receive the same email... when I ask why my site is banned.

I would add that without seeing the sites in question...you could be part of "link farm" that has nothing to do with the coop. There could be other factors, on or off page, as well.

Saying Yahoo doesn't like the coop is just silly - their current serps prove otherwise. There are plenty of sites in their index using the coop and other advertising networks.

Its one thing to ask the question
"Is it possible Yahoo is reffering to this reason"

    but to say

"Here is proof that Yahoo views the Coop as a link farm" then doctor an email to support your case

I totally agree with you, yfs1. I have seen that same e-mail as a response to my inquiry and I think if you post it you need to post the whole thing. Cut out the live links if you really don't want to post them. Yahoo has many factors that could cause them to ban a site and they are never specific in their e-mails.

    Yeah very bad form.

If I could give you double neg rep I would. You know exactly what you did, and you know exactly what people asked you to do, but decided to be obtuse about it anyways.

It amazes me the number of people who think that the Co-op network is some form of SEO death. The only way it could be made better is if the links to and from were more relevant. Other than that, it is great... people need to quit trying to blame Shawn and his fantastic mind for their SEO downfalls...

my responce from yahoo is almost the same

    but i noticed this
" Use of affiliate programs without the addition of substantial unique content"

google & msn dont seem to care... and i guess yahoo hasnt checked out my forum or read my blog..

    Hello Jason,

Thanks for writing the Yahoo! Search and Directory Support.

I understand that you have a question about why your site does not
    appear in Yahoo! Search.

It has been determined that your site may not comply with Yahoo!'s
    Content Quality Guidelines located at:

    http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-05.html.

Below are some answers to common questions regarding this issue:

Q: What are some of the common reasons that a site may violate Yahoo!'s
    Content Quality Guidelines?

A: Yahoo!'s Content Quality Guidelines (link above) outline what we are
and are not looking for in pages that we index. Listed below are some of
the more common examples of how a site may violate these guidelines:

    - Cloaking (showing crawlers deceptive content about a site)
    - Massive domain interlinking
    - Use of affiliate programs without the
    addition of substantial unique content
    - Use of reciprocal link programs (aka "link farms")
    - Hidden text
    - Excessive keyword repetition

Q: If my site violates Yahoo!'s Content Quality Guidelines, can I still
use the Search Submit inclusion program?

A: All pages submitted to Search Submit are editorially reviewed. If a
site has is not in compliance with the content policy guidelines, it is
likely to be rejected by the Search Submit program.

Q: If my site violates Yahoo!'s Content Policy Guidelines, can I use the
    Yahoo! Directory Submit program?

A: The Yahoo! Directory and Yahoo! Search Index are different systems.
Inclusion or exclusion from one does not affect the other.

Q: How can I have my site re-reviewed?

A: Please review our content quality guidelines to make sure that your
site meets all of them. When you feel the site is ready, please complete
    the form located at:

    http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/ysearch/cgi_rereview

to request a re-review of your site. You may wish to include an
explanation of unique features on your site, or details of changes to
your site's content that may assist our editors in their evaluation.

Please allow several weeks for the review process, YST indexing, and a
complete refresh of the database before checking http://search.yahoo.com
to see if your site is listed in the Yahoo! Search Index. We do not
offer specifics detailing how an individual site is not in compliance
with our guidelines, but we will review your site individually. You will
not be receiving further notification regarding your request for a
second review, and we are not able to offer the option of another
    review.

Thank you for taking the time to make the Yahoo! Search Index even
    better.
