Here's how I reduced my bounce rate...

    In a single word: TEST

You don't want to waste your traffic on under-performing videos or headlines or confusing stories, so pre-test everything before you publish it or expose it to your potential customers.

I use www.markiter.com. It allows me to get feedback from real people to get a better idea of what works, and what doesn't. It's not a replacement for conversion tracking, but it helps me narrow down my ideas, and I could use all the extra data/feedback that I can get.

Full Disclosure: I'm good friends with the guys that created Markiter.

That's a really good resource that you pointed out. Low budget to use too.

But is it cost-effective to pre-test everything before hitting the publish button?

I agree that it would be great to pre-test everything before publishing it. I think something to consider would be the time spent doing pre-testing. But, if used as an "idea-narrower" I think its great. Yeah, thanks for the tip there. Two questions about that. Is Markiter free, or "low budget" as logish mentioned? Also what other pre-test sites and/or resources are there out there?

I'm glad you guys think it's helpful.

First of all, if you think of traditional market research, it can cost thousands of dollars, and weeks to analyze the data. Markiter allows you do get 50 responses (with real feedback) for only $10. In my experience you get results in minutes. So its a lot more bang for your buck.

Logish: Look at it from an ROI standpoint. If the extra data you get makes you feel more comfortable about what you publish (or the feedback from people helps you to optimize your message), then I would say its definitely worth it. How long would it take you to make the $10 back?

Teecamo: Markiter could definitely be used as an idea narrower...it will definitely save you time, and allow you to focus. Markiter has a free plan, but you would need to get your customers to answer the survey. For $10, Markiter does the hard work for you, and gets you 50 guaranteed responses, along with analytics. I don't know of any other pre-testing site that does this so cheaply.
