Nothing tricky or illegal. I simply looked up the competitors of my ISP and checked their prices, I noticed several of them offering better prices, I called my ISP and told them that they got to give me a better offer or I'm leaving them, later that day they called me up and told me what I wanted to hear. Simple as that.
I can confirm that this can and does work. I saw a poster for a new service at least as good as mine but cheaper so I called my customer service and they were helpful and they cut the cost of my package with no negotiation from me at all.
Now I believe you, but I don't think it will work in all ISP or all countries. Thanks for sharing your story!
Phone up your ISP tell them you want to leave then tell them what you want..hey presto....I do this in the UK with the two biggest every 6 months.
Charter increased almost all customers double there speed for no extra charge, sounds unheard of but happen a few times, I pay $20 for 16mbit
The customer service of my ISP bsnl is very poor. I called them 5 to 6 times to change my line, it has some problems and that is affecting my connection..But they never came into my house as they promised..Every time they are giving fake promises..Now i need to apply your trick and see how it goes..
and you location is hell right? did you have to speak to the devil? is he the only choice on ISP down there?
