Hi everyone, I was checking up on an old domain name I own (websiteadvert.com), I haven't done anything with this site but I just wanted to see if it gets any traffic. So anyway.. I was checking my traffic stats and i saw some referring links that i didn't recognise http://www.tradetang.com/for-sale/F...100-w-Wi-Fi-E-book-Reader/102283-562215.html# This is an old item that i was selling on ebay about 6 months ago, I stored all the pictures for the auction on websiteadvert.com(just to cut down ebay fees). I caught this seller on trade tang hotlinking to my pictures (they even stole my item description), so i changed them... just a little bit. hope everyone else finds this as funny as me.
Pictures from your website were hot-linked for selling purpose... But a picture from my website was hot-linked for the Purpose of PHISHING.. I have given the details of it and the method used for PHISHING in my Blog.. Check it here: http://lokeshsays.blogspot.com/2009/01/phishing-site-is-using-image-from-my.html I reported it to Google, Paypal, in.com and JotForm.. JotForm has blocked that Form Accounts and also Commented a reply in my blog and also sent an email to me..
Yes, I have had some experience with hotlinking in the past. If your images get hotlinked change it to something that would make the site look really bad and change the url of your own images to something else, eg. if the hotlinking site is an environmental site, make the images have something like "Destroy the Environment!" or "Stop using this site, computers cause Global Warming!". It's always really funny to see their reaction.
