I just wanted to know how you guys would evaluate a domain in the Finance niche which has a Global Search of 50,000 (exact) and a CPC of $25. The domain consists of 2 generic keywords (16L). The domain is a .info. I'm looking at buying it but wanted to know what something like this would be worth? Also, what would it be worth if it were a: .com? .net? or .org? Thanks gang!
It all depends on the competition for the keyword. If there's loads of established / high PR sites ranking for the same keyword then the value is almost non-existent. If, however, there's not an awful lot of competition then there's definitely value. Your best bet would be buying the domain, building a site on it, getting it to rank and then either profiting from it or flipping it for high $xxx / low $xxxx. All in all, definitely worth the $7 it takes to purchase it.
Very true Bryanon. Thanks for that. I guess like you said it all depends on the competition. What if I had a good keyworded domain but there's only a .us/.ws/.me/.asia left. Which one would you get? Assume the domain is a generic word that has no regional association. This is a situation I am faced with at the moment and would appreciate any input from you or anyone. Personally, I preffer the .ws because it's short, it stands for Web Site (yes I know it originated from Western Samoa), and it ranks well for any key word on Google. For example I have a one worded .ws domain (techniques) and even though I've done hardly anything, it ranks 1st on a few keywords already! So this made me wonder, which one should I get if it is available? .us or .ws?? Even if the .us extn has nothing to do with the U.S. Sorry if I'm going a bit off topic (appraisals) but I've asked this in the relevant section but I've recv'd no response. Pleaaaase help!
