There's no doubt Wii is one of the most popular gaming console nowadays and is considered by many as the most innovative games machine so far. Its almost next to real-life gameplay is what most probably endeared it to gamers and non-gamers alike of all ages. For more on Wii, you can check out the reviews on http://www.smartratings.com/review/electronics/video_gaming_consoles/86 .
I've been trying to grab a Wii from my local Walmart but they seem to come in to the store between paychecks ;( There was a unit there yesterday but they seem to fly out as soon as they come in. On the other hand, the PS3's have been sitting there for a few weeks now!
I got up REAL early on launch day and was able to score one. My non-gamer wife has probably put in a couple hundred hours with me on it. Fun stuff!
Hey, Wii owners, tell us more about the console and the games. I am thinking about buting one this summer. If I find out it's worth it..
This is how to decide what game system is right for you: Nintendo Wii = if you don't play many video games and like socializing with friends and family by playing games with anime looking characters Microsoft 360 = if you are into hardcore video game shooters, puzzles, arcade games or pwing people online Sony PlayStation 3 = if you want to watch Blu-ray DVDs and have lots of money Sony PS2 = you're broke
Ever since I got bored of Call of Duty 2 multiplayer, my 360 is just standing there... I need something new.
I never bought a Wii (too hard to find one) but my sister got one and they are fantastic. The best game I played was Tiger Woods golf... it was so realistic and was so easy to make a mistake, just like in real golf
I enjoy my Wii, still dip into Wii Sports from time to time. Only bought 2 games so far though: Twilight Princess was just incredible, though The Godfather was acutely average. Holding out for Resident Evil 4
I got a Wii and I love it, it's good for family and friends to play. Then i got the xbox 360 for more hardcore gaming
Have you tried the new Pac Man game for the 360? It's pretty fun. I can totally see it as a new arcade game.
I have 63 games for my Gamecube so buying a Wii with it's backward compatability makes sense for me.. plus I enjoy alot of the games that are exclusive to Nintendo, such as the Mario games. I just read that the Xbox 360 has as much as a 30% hardware failure rate, so I'll put off buying one of those in preference to the Wii. The PS3 is just too darn expensive!
The Wii's awesome and plus they're coming out with a new Mario and a Duck hunt type game too! Can't wait to see the new gun come out too.
You could be right, but I think it has some longevity based on playability.. in the end, the plays the thing with gaming. Graphics + poor game play just don't cut it, next gen or no.
But the 360 and def. ps3 have more "potential" than the Wii. PS3 will supposedly last 10 years, as the Wii, may only last 3.
Hm, I have my doubts, mainly because the PS3 may well be obsolete technology by next year and outclassed by lower cost machines.. whether the Wii lasts will depend on the game lineup IMO.. PS3 may not even be able to find developers because no one is buying the console.. everyone is buying the Wii by contrast.
IMO the Wii is now too well entrenched to be a fad, with its success and the domination of the DS, it's clear graphics alone don't define next-gen anymore.
Yep. Companies like EA are throwing as many developers as possible off of PS3/360 projects and onto Wii projects. Once those games start hitting the shelves it'll only serve to build a larger audience for the Wii. My quick guide to some games (since Bebicul asked). - Wii Sports still gets the most play. We've owned about 10 different games and we still play it the most. We can leave it in the game on the main menu and if we want to bowl a quick game before dinner it's about 10 minutes from start to finish. With two little ones in the house, time is a premium. We play bowling and baseball the most and do the "fitness test" every few days. - Had Zelda. Got about halfway through. Cool game, but too time consuming for me. - Wario Ware. My wife thinks it's a bit crazy, but it's a fun game. Being able to do mass multiplayer (up to 8, I think) with one Wiimote is quite cool. The only downside is that you have to beat single-player mode (2 hours, maybe) before you can access multi-player. - Mario Party 8. Just as you'd expect. We're excited to have some friends over this weekend and really try it out. - Mii. The built-in character creator. We've made about 45 of our closest friends and family. - Virtual Console. We've bought about 10 games for the VC. My wife plays Super Mario World, I play Tecmo Bowl and Punch Out. Those are the biggies. I had Madden, Need for Speed a few others. They were good, but too much like the last one (and the one before, and the one before, etc). Get it!!
I got mine the first day it was for sale and I heard about the troubles some people were having with their 360s but mine has never caused me any problems. I love my 360 and I think it's a great system designed for an generally more experienced gaming audience than the Wii. In my opinion the Wii is much better if you are a casual gamer.
