I am not going to post the whole details but I think it's a good idea.. I am planning to open a Learning Marketplace site and I am spending my 2-year time in preparation for this... Teachers and learners online will meet and the site will offer not only all languages but also all subjects in all fields of learning... from elementary subjects, medicine, engineering, computers and internet, marketing, etc, etc.. What do you think...? I am now on 40% on script completion.. I started the programming alone since november and I am doing it very careful..
do you plan for a free learning center? or students have to pay some money? one of my friends started an eLearning site in computer related fields in about 3-4 years ago but failed! because he asked students to pay money for educational courses. But your Plan is bigger. I don't know what's your business model for this site, but I suggest if you want to grab visitors' attention, try to make a free site. But then you have to satisfy the teachers! and then you need some ideas for them to make money with your site. Your plan is very good because you will have a content site with lots of subjects and educational contents if you work well on it. wishing success for you.
It Sounds interesting! Will it be as a forum or a site? How are you ging to attract visitors? It seems to be a great project! Wish you were lucky!
It would be beneficial if you collaborate with few institutions, also it will good if you've something in mind like knowledge processing outsourcing.
It's not free.... students will post their learning requirement and teachers will bid for hourly rate... it's a reverse auction..
Just get a ready-made software. For example, http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/30763.html or http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/56543.html
I searched for scripts to be used but my requirement is special so I personally doing the basic programming before submitting it to a professional programmer for corrections.
Have you looked at sites like Blackboard that provide similar services? Obviously, you don't want to infringe on any copyright or trademark issues but a lot can be learned from websites that are successful in your target market area. I think your idea is a good one because internet users, for the most part, are very hungry for substantial content and information.
Get in touch with people who are important to the industry for feedback. It's always a lot easier to do that when you first start instead of building a big site and then meeting with people who will use and promote it, only to discover they have a laundry list of suggestions for it.
Blackboard has a totally different service and approach and there is no way my plan is similar to it.. The site that has a little similarity for what I have in mind is language-school-teachers.com but still the approach is too far different.. No problem about copyright infringement, I have a unique plan and I am still continuing my research for possible similar service but I cannot find so I ciuld say it is safe.. Yes brandon... I actually have a lists of people who I contacted already regarding this project... I am building a lists also of possible partners (promotional partners) in specific countries like China, Germany, S korea,India, and others..
Do keep us updated when it takes off...... Also why dint you keep monthly plans? Or keep it free till you build good traffic then monetize..... Good Luck!
