Hey Y'all, I've learned a bunch here and to give back here are some quick stats you might find useful - for all of those without an ad tracker This example site has an average of 750 visitors per day with high stickiness - the average is 4 pages but many visitors view a lot more - ranked #1 to #3 on the SEs for related terms. Overall CTR is low double digits - I won't say more than that. Based on 3 months of data. Main content is like an "article" with the adsense as follows: 336*280 embedded by itself in the top of the article between the title (h1 tags) and the content (I shall try text wrapping around the article next). Text/bg colors match the page - url is light grey on white - link is 000080. 468*60 at the end of the article - this can end up blank some of the time text/bgs same as above 120*90 text link in the left nav, bottom text / bg colors match the nav colors -- CTR 336*280 approx 80% 468*60 approx 15% 120*90 approx 5% Overall CTR has been improved slightly by adding a relevant image to the right of the 336 ad and has added about 1% - more importantly it seems to have evened out the CTR across the week. The ad content seem to strongly follow the page title and the window title - in my case they are programmed to be the same. Changing the link color to orange to make it stand out made my CTR go down a little. This confirms what you probably already know: - blend the ad to match the site design - Adding images close to the ads can help raise the CTR - 336*280 works best - follow the google heatmaps Hope the numbers help. Of course, this is just one site. Your Mileage May Vary. Don't eat the yellow snow. Remember to pay your gas bill. TTFN Steve
Oh, I get it. I'm a little slow today I guess. Its not CTR, its the amount of click that the particular unit got.
