My question is what should i check before i buy it and where do i check

a brief descreption of what to check before buying this domain would be great help

I am waiting for your replies as i cant wait to buy this domain.

You can check archive.org to view the history of the site.

i have just checked that and it used to be owned by some consulting firm
any way i can check if its got any problem or anythign say banned by google or somethign ? or would it not matter coz i will be the new owner?

and does it make sense to set up my directory on a domain name which is from 1998 as compared to a fresh domain ? and what difference would it make

any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated :)

If the domain is "available for registration" it's considered a new domain name and you start over. The whois will show the new registration date.

so there wont be any advantage for it being first registered in 1998 is that right?

coz i often see people saying age of a domain is one of the factors in search engine results

It's no longer a 98 domain if you freshly register it. However, if it's still got lottsa backlinks to the site that's still important.

Yes there is a good advantage of it being that old as long as like you said it isn't banned or anything. It being that old means it's more than likely indexed in a bunch of search engines and already has traffic coming to it. Check the alexa rank for fun and make sure that it is indeed indexed with Google and Yahoo.

    it is www.aimpr.com
i am planning a directory with description saying somethign like your aim pr realised at aimpr dot com or somethign like that
am i being stupid or would it make any sense may be a bit refinement and stuff and i think it will be a catchy one wouldnt it?

Well, if it is not indexed anywhere then the domain name is as good as brand new. Don't think of it as a deleted domain but a brand new domain name.

What counts is if you like the name, everything else would follow when the traffic comes in.
