    Which browser are you using?

If you installed some ad-blocking plugins, that they might prevent adsense ads.

The same thing happened to one of my Iweb sites. After about an hour they came back. There must be a ghost in the system. Just try putting the code back in.

Maybe when you reformat, you forgot to install an antivirus and adware guard. Then you browsed the internet. You got infected!

try to see if you got javascript enabled on you browser

if you are using firefox try this
    1. Select 'Tools' from the top menu
    2. Choose 'Options'
    3. Choose 'Content' from the top navigation
    4. Select the checkbox next to 'Enable JavaScript' and click OK

you formatted your pc and your ads disappeared? I doubt that this is the reason...wait for some time...and see if the ads appear again.
