I've been a member of DP for a long time now, but I've mostly used the site to conduct business and bum around threads, but I'm operating under a new theory now that helping other people with their projects will significantly impact the traffic of my personal online marketing blog: Brosense My blog includes any tips I have to educate people on how to make money online and I try to include as many specific examples as possible. To test this I'm offering my assistance in guiding DPers with any problem they have. My areas of expertise include: link building, SEO, sandbox issues and I do have some knowledge of PHP, mySQL, wordpress I'm not asking any payment in return and I believe offering this free help will increase my traffic, twitter followers, and feed readers. As a baseline for this case study I have the following stats: Highest pageviews/uniques: 76/39 Twitter Followers: 27 Feed Readers: 1 I'll take on problems in order of ones I think other people will find interesting, and people that are willing to share their specific site with others will receive priority over those who aren't. I like to be specific when I give examples and sharing sites with others will allow more people to learn when I post solutions to problems. I will do postings on the solutions that I find the most interesting, and I will update this thread on the results in traffic to my site based on free help to share if it ends up being worth it. The traffic should correlate to the quality of help I am able to give out. So PM me with your questions about your sites, also include whether you're willing to share the details of your site and I will be happy to assist as many people as I'm able to help
My areas of expertise include: link building, SEO, sandbox issues... Ok, ill byte I really do not have anything to say about link buliding right now, but I get a few people saying that I need to SEO my forum...I really do not know what that really means...seo my forum, fth? How can I SEO my forum so that I know that I am getting maxium results that I can get out of my forum? also, my domain is 10 years old, has not been active for 10 years, but it just 10 years old. What are the chances of my domain getting sand bagged by google for lets say some mass link building, article submissions, etc...The domain surely has age, but thats about it. and since it is an aged domain, do you think the forum will grow at a faster rate with google indexing compared to lets say a forum that was started yesterday? Here is the forum: Live Chat For Webmasters
Nice forum, I registered, haven't received the welcome email yet though. The on page SEO on your forum looks good actually. You're got the title's coming up as the thread names: http://www.wmforum.com/webmaster-discussion/943-mybb-v-s-vbulletin.html that's the biggest thing you should have for a forum. In terms of the google sandbox. Did you have something on the domain for 10 years or was it completely blank? Did you have any links pointing to it, even just one? Those things help with the sandbox. What is your target term for your homepage? Whatever your target term is should be in your title tag. (see SEOmoz for more on that) So if your target term is "internet marketing webmaster forum" you're fine. BTW you're currently on page 10 for that term in google: http://www.google.com/search?q=inte...rgQfDzcSzDA&start=90&sa=N&fp=9bef8cda26d1a6ec Your links so far look weird: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=www.wmforum.com/&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=s The majority of your links from Chinese sites. Was there something else on your site before? Forums are tricky because the best way to get links to them is to create great content through user discussions. Great content means users link to them, means more authority. I think the best way to go about doing that is to create great discussions yourself and great resources on your site and to become a promotion whore (remind you of anyone?). So far so good I would say. How often do you post on your forum? Do you mind pointing me to some of your higher quality posts? Also, if you're planning on doing link building, whatever you do don't use the same anchor over and over. Mix it up A LOT. Sites that are aged should grow faster than unaged, ASSUMING that they are on the same topic and have had SOME content and SOME links pointing towards them.
wow, I just responded to dscurlock's posts, and now his posts, and my response is gone, and i have a reversed infraction in my account for shilling/itrader fraud? What gives? Where the F did those posts go? and just to follow up with stats. Helping one person so far and: Highest pageviews/uniques: 76/39 Twitter Followers: 36 Feed Readers: 2 Although any gains are more from my other DP thread on Amazon: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2050635 and not so much from this one according to statcounter. People love talking about money, that's for sure. Anyways, I'm still willing to help any one else for free to test out this marketing strategy, hopefully other people's questions and my responses won't be deleted.
Im not sure...but anyway...I was looking up some terms "Internet Marketing Forum" but it was not for WMForum, it was on the domain previous to that, which is now pointing to WMForum, and it was BizWebForum, page 7 of google, for some strange reason that does not give me much comfort, why? Because Warrior is like on page 2, and they get a crap load of traffic, since I am not that many pages down, if I were on page 2 right now, I do not feel that my traffic would increase that much...and as you know WMForum is a new domain that has been inactive for 10 years or about...and page 7 does not appear to be that far down the road...I just do not see my traffic jumping from a few, to a few thousand in just a few months, the time it could take to move from page 7 to page 6, to page 5, and so forth, unless it is going to take 5 years to get from page 7 to page 2...If BizWebForum were on page 1000 - I guess that I would understand a bit more, but for a new domain to be on page 7 under those competing terms? thats confusing...what are your thoughts on this?
