Okay so here is the story. I had a site, I sucked at marketing, no one came, I lost money. Wasn't planning on renewing, but it appears that godaddy renews on its own for you. GREAT! Now I'm down another $100+. Can anyone pleaseeeee give me some tips on getting people to my site. I actually though this would be a site people would love and really enjoy themselves at, but that has not been the case for the past year. Any ideas? URL is www.overhearddaily.com
Sorry, I forgot to mention. I'll edit first post as well. The site is for people to come post and read things they, and other people have overheard people say in public.
First of all - I feel your pain with the GoDaddy auto-renewal. Although they do send you 2-3 notices before it automatically renews (I no longer use the email I signed up with), it did come as a bit of a shock when I saw that 7 of my domain names had been renewed on my statement. Oh well... What marketing techniques have you tried so far? You wouldn't want to spend too much on advertising a blog/news portal, particularly when you'd only be relying on AdSense for your main source of revenue. The best thing to do is to keep writing those posts (daily if you can). The visitors will come trickling in, but it definitely does build up over time. Try joining up at a few college related forums and promote your site via your signature. Signature links DO get clicked, so don't underestimate the power of them.
