    Hi,

Anyone have any ideas why Windows XP hangs after I type in my logon password at User Login Screen ?

At the "Welcome" screen. Just after I type in the password the computer hangs before the start-up sound is played, I am running a legitimate copy of Windows XP SP2.

I have even tried logging on Safe Mode , VGA Mode by pressing F8 Key, still it acts same.

When i enter password, it says, "loading your personal settings..." and then "Saving User Setting" and then comes back to enter password screen.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Regards

Happens once in a while due to hardware incompatibility or corruption of crucial driver.

Try repairing the system with installation disk :)

When i insert Windows XP CD at Boot, i can just see option to install new windows XP Copy !
Can not see Repair Option ?

And if i go to Repair Menu ( which i see before Selection Of Drive Menu ) from Windows XP CD, it lands me to DOS Prompt.

As of Now i have installed Windows XP at other partition and came online :(

How can i find repair existing windows ( prior one ) ?

Did u install 2 antivirus programs by mistake. I had a similar problem some days back.
Try opening XP in safe mode, uninstall the other antivirus and re-start. I think it will fix up the issue.

Thats weird. I had this same problem happen to me, except I am using Vista. I had to login into safemode and then do a system recovery to the last day the computer worked. I must have had a bad windows update or something. Since you cannot log into safemode, I dont know what to tell you. Do you have the original disc?

Have you recently installed any new hardware or software?

Do you have anything else plugged into the computer besides your keyboard, mouse, and monitor? If so, try unplugging it and booting up again.

How long have you let it sit there and let it try to load? 5 minutes? I would give it a good 20 minutes if you already haven't to see if you can get it.

I've seen this happen before, where it won't even load in safe mode or VGA mode and it's almost always new software, a bad driver, or even a bad hard drive....
