    In case you are switching themes in the future or don't want to have yo edit your theme, you can use a worpress plugin to install your stats: For example: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/gostats-for-wordpress/

    By the way, if you like statcounter, you should also give GoStats a try ;)
