hey all, So, I have been figuring out what to do for a new website I want to start promoting. Now my question is, For a first timer would it be better to promote as an affiliate, or my own product? I suppose I have been trying to figure out what target audience would be interested in buying this software. Any suggestions? here is my website to check it out and give some feedback. Not too much work has been done with it, but am willing if its something that I could work on and continue with. As for why I want to get involved with affiliate marketing, is primarily because I feel it would be easier to get a website started around something I am particularly interested in such as mountain biking. Any input would be greatly appreciated! http://www.homebusinessoulutions.com/
I received an error when I visited your site. The first rule is that if you are going to have a website about mountain biking, the domain name should be related. Let us know when the site is back online, and I'll take another look.
Thank you, I currently took it off. I want to switch to hostgater. However, I was thinking If i were to create a website around what I will be promoting, why not apply for affiliates in which are in a related category. I have been thinking too much about too many things, i just need to get out there and just start learning everything in which i have learned, to see what works and what doesn't. This i feel is what marketing is all about.
You're right. You should focus and take action. A lot of people are just consuming information, but it's a lot more important to start doing something, create a blog and start writing. I have done many mistakes, I have had many different blogs, but it's all part of doing and learning by doing. But I didn't spend a lot of money, it was just my time
An affiliate program is a good start for taking your online business career. Master every details and if you're familiar enough about this category, you can start again with another project.
Hi theor23, yes it's much easier to begin a blog or site about something you're interested in because you'll be able to write quality content and offer valuable information on your site that can attract readers a.k.a. potential customers. A niche like mountain biking can be monetized with Amazon, I did a quick check there and bikes sell for more than a hundred dollars each which could translate to good commissions if you make a lot of sales. When your site becomes an established authority on mountain biking, maybe you can even contact local suppliers to borrow products you can review on your site or to place advertising on your site. Down the line, you can create your own products to sell. If writing ebooks is your thing, you can sell an ebook about tips and tricks about mountain biking that you can sell on your site. Or you can partner with a bike company or manufacturer so you can come out with your own product line. There are so many possibilities once you've decided on the niche you want to target. Of course, the most important things are focus and action. Take some time to draft the steps you need to take to accomplish your goal and just start doing something. Do something everyday that will advance your goal. Yes, you'll make mistakes but eventually, you'll get there. Goodluck!
First off, when you post you are going to have to pay attention to spelling. The domain name you initially provided seemed to have a typo in it. Later, you referred to hostgater, which I'm assuming is hostgator. When people are entering domain names or search terms, spelling is important. Next is focus. If you haven't decided what niche you are promoting, you have no direction, and without direction, you will be asking much the same question a year or two from now, if you haven't given up altogether. the basic steps: 1) decide on what niche you are going to attack 2) do some serious keyword research 3) Get a domain name that includes your keywords 4) secure your hosting account. You can get the first month for a penny if you use the right coupon code. HMTspecial worked for me. 5) get an autoresponder account with someone like AWeber 6) populate your autoresponder with the beginning of a newsletter sequence 7) install Wordpress and the first few blog entries 8) for the next five or six weeks, add a blog post each day, plus submit two articles to article directories like ezinearticles. 9) as you monetize your newsletter, you will start seeing profits. If you need details like most people, look for a program to help you along. I found Honest Marketing Techniques program to be a good, honestly presented program without any hype or crap. I don't know how dedicated you are, but if you aren't willing to spend about a hundred hours of your time over 6 weeks or so, plus the hosting and autoresponder costs, you don't have a lot of chance to be successful. If you are willing to do the work, you can make some decent money, and once you achieve the all-important critical mass, you can keep it going for an hour or so a day. No matter what you read, you need to keep in mind that there is no magic easy button, and you just can't get rich overnight without any effort. If you could make a million overnight by buying a magic program, I'd be a billionaire many times over by now.
Rick, you have inspired me very much so thank you. I am starting over, doing some more market research and have found I will be doing something that may work. In the next six months my goal will be fully focused on just knowing that it will happen. I will be going to school for IT hoping ,to learn and implement some ideas from that. I see it this way money is nice to have, however it takes dedication and not just money but the respect of those who obtain your trust. I see it as something that you can have fun with, at the same time be aware of the things that can happen. thank you rick
You need to start with your customers in mind: What do they want? Then you sell it to them. Any method you like ... successful are twitter, blogs etc. Don't start with what you are good at. That will probably not monetize.
Affiliate marketing is a good start for online business, as I have opened your site, no material is present there as on home business solutions. And I am completely agree with rick to make your foundation so much solid, so that you can make a building of success on there without any problem.
