HELP with website template

    Hi everyone -

    I need some basic help with my website (www.pyxiscommunications.com) I used a pre-made template (http://www.free-css.com/free-website-templates/page7/divagloss.php#bookmarks) and have been working on manipulating it.

    Two questions:

    1. I tried to add my logo to the top of the page ("Pyxis Communications") but it doesn't seem to want to want to go all the way to the top. How do I move it up? Is it in the CSS file and not index.html?

    2. Top navigation buttons issue --- currently, "Home" is the only one with an orange dialogue icon around it. I'd like for it to change, depending on which section I'm clicking on. For ex -- if I click on "About Us," it should have an orange icon around it. How do I fix this so that it doesn't just stay on "Home?"

    Any information would be greatly appreciated -- I'm a bit rusty and getting stuck is really frustrating.

    Thanks so much,
    Heather

    First problem, we don't use tif images on the web. We use .jpg for photos, .gif and .png for others. The .png format could be used for a photo, it depends whether the file size is smaller in .jpg or .png.

    Next problem, you logo is not to be inside the h1 set of tags. The heading tags are for headings, as in words, not for images.

    The container logo is where you would adjust the top margin for this container.
    .logo {
    	padding:0;
    	float:none;
    	float:left;
    	width:auto;
    	height:141px;
    }
    Code (markup):
    After you remove the h1 tags around the logo image (and use the correct image type) see if it lands where you want it vertically. If it doesn't add margin-top: 0; to the style quoted above and then adjust from there.

    The orange bubble is on the home page, because it's the active page. When you change to another page,the orange bubble highlights that item in the menu. At least this is what I see is happening. If you want to change that behavior, you'll have to modify the CSS for the menu.

    Thanks, guys! That's great help.

    I have one more issue -- we think the light bulb image and blue design in the middle of the page is too big. It's the first thing you see... and we don't want that. I've tried everything to condense it by 50% and it just won't seem to work. Is this in the CSS file or do we resize the images themselves? I've tried resizing the image, but it looks horrible.

    Thank you!

    You'll have to change it in the html....but this is just for that image blub image only, Look for line 29 in your code which is
    <div class="slider"><img height="307" width="935" src="images/slide2.jpg" />

    after you have found that you can change the size of the image by either manipulating it in a graphics program or you can change the height and width here by 50% to something like this:
    <div class="slider"><img height="153" width="467 src="images/slide2.jpg" />

    that should reduce the image by 50% both vertically and horizontally, but keep in mind that the file size of the image will be the same, the only way around that is to edit it in a program like photoshop and optimize it. If this works or doesn't for you let me know and I'll offer further help.

    Thank you for taking the time to help me :) I tried to reduce the image by 50%, but it messes up the entire page. It also looks like the background behind image 2 is a separate file. I can't for the life of me figure this out.. even when trying to edit in a program like photoshop. It seems like there are too many pieces to modify. Do you think it just isn't possible?
