Help with turning html into Wordpress Hooks

    I'm running the Options theme (Spartan child theme) on Wordpress 2.7.
    I'm trying to get the stumble it button into my single.php page.
    There's a hook already in there - op_after_single, so I figure it's better to use that and then any theme upgrades won't break it, (plus I figure I'm going to have to learn sooner or later), but I'm absolutely new to hooks, and need help...

    The stumble upon code is:

    <a href="http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=%26title%3DThe%2BArticle%2BTitle"> <img border=0 src="http://cdn.stumble-upon.com/images/120x20_su_blue.gif" alt=""> Stumble It!</a>
    HTML:
    The hook in single.php is:
    <?php op_after_single(); // Single post hook ?>
    PHP:
    What do I have to do, (in idiot-proof language please) to get that hook to execute that html code? Help? Please?

    PS links to any plain language tutorials to help me understand hooks would also be appreciated.
