My site has been live for 5 months now and is showing up well on MSN and Yahoo. The site is not listed at all on google even when searching for the domain directly. However from my logfiles my site is being spidered by google roughly 8 times per day. Could anyone shed any light on this?

What is the domain name? How many links do you have to the site?

Although there may be improvements you can make in your seo, some might say that you are still in the 'new site probationary period'.

Atleast you are listed in yahoo.....I have yet to achieve that great feat......one day.....maybe....heh By the way in response to your question.....The easist way to be found and indexed by Google is to provide a xml sitemap. Let them find your pages by providing them what they need to find it. Remember the less outgoing you have the more active the googlebot will browse your site....since it only has one place to go....to another page....on your site ;)

It doesn't work like that. The spider indexes the whole of a page (exceptions aside), recording the links on it for it to follow in the future. Then the process repeats with the linked to page.

The number of outgoing links (within reason) does not affect the spidering of your pages.

Cool hooper...thanks for the input. From what I have read it appears that some believe when a robot has found a link it could theoretically leave your url and begin indexing the related link. Thus the need for the noFollow tag as it related to Spam Bloggin.....would never use the tag on my site because I too believe in the interconnected web :) Was a bit concerned with offering so many outgoing links but due to the nature of my sons site it was a concern I was willing to overlook for the better of the karting community :) Thanks again because that shed some light on a topic I have been reading about for the past week now :)

Outgoing links to related websites will actually help you in ranking higher. Linking to other sites is natural and shows you are a good resource for your visitors.

That's excactly what I thought, surely outgoing related links show that your site is more relevant than a site without?

Outgoing links help search engines analyze what your site is about. Linking to good related resources will help your rankings and your traffic.
