Help With My Hosting

    I want to host my website on a Canadian server since I have Canadian based business. I recently signed up with a host who claims the servers are located in Toronto, and after my account was setup, I ran a whois on the IP and it came back with an Illinois address. I brought this to their attention and their response was that the database I was searching must not be updated and to check this address to see who the IP is registered to:
    http://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=!%20NET-64-34-120-0-1

    Since I don't know too much about this stuff, I thought someone here could let me know if my site is actually hosted on a Canadian IP so I can get some SEO benefit.

    Thanks for your replys. I guess it's a split decision right now. Any more input as to whether Google thinks my website is hosted in Toronto or Glen Ellyn, Illinois?

    I am not 100% sure but I would go with ARIN db on this one. It is true that databases do not get updated right away. The traceroute hops are iffy but the last hop before the ip address is in DC. The hop from DC to Toronto (above) seems right to me. The hop from DC to IL is less likely since I am tracing it from west coast. But I am not sure, if you do not trust your host, call up Cogent (www.cogentco.com) and ask them directly. It seems like their lines are from cogent.
