Help with moving a domain

I bought a site from somebody and they came me access to the web host account.

I changed all the passwords and everything.

The domain was registered with the web host company.

Now I would like to move the domain and park it with some of my other domains. How do I go about doing this?

Where is a good place to park domains at?

I currently have a few parked at goDaddy.com and web.com

    Are these good, bad?

    Thanks

Do I simply tell the web host where the domain is currently at to transfer it to another site?

    Is it that easy?

Well, if you're going to use the website you bought with the domain then you wouldn't want to forward your domain to Sedo. Godaddy will work. Just log in to your account there and create a transfer of the domain. Make sure the current registrar does not have a "lock" on the domain. You can log in at the current registrar to check. If it is locked then unlock it before you start the transfer to GoDaddy. Also, if the domain is going to point to the website then you may want to switch the nameservers at your current domain registrar. Since transfers can take up to 5 days at least the nameservers would resolve within a day or so and people would be able to visit your website during the transfer period. Then, once the domain has been transfered to GoDaddy you can set the nameservers there as well (actually, you can probably set them before the name is even there so that when it actually does transfer the nameservers will already be setup and your website will have minimal downtime).

If you're not going to use the website and just park the domain then Sedo, DomainSponsor, Fabulous, Namedrive etc will all work though each company has their own criteria for accepting new accounts. I would just transfer it to GoDaddy and then forward it to the parking company or change the nameservers to one of the parking companies nameservers.
