Does anyone know how to retrieve emails in Thunderbird?
Last Saturday 800 emails disappeared from my inbox. Actually my inbox/ whole profile disappeared and Despite reading information posted on Mozilla site, I can't find it.

I'm not sure how you can recover your lost emails - but this should be your first lesson in making backups.

I make a daily backup of my Thunderbird inbox to an external drive using SecondCopy. It's saved me more than once. You can never have too many backups.

The worst part is I haven't had a problem in 3 years and I was waiting for delivery of my new 500GB external drive and fully intended to back up everything on my PC. Emails disappeared Saturday, New external drive delivered Monday morning. AAGGGHHHH

The old crash and burn phenomenon - just as you're preparing to do a vital backup, it all goes to hell....

Just make a fresh start. Burn whatever bridges you can't save - and start again. It's a lesson you only need to learn once.

Wow.... maybe MS Outlook does have its own benefits, eh?

So, not to digress here but would you say I'm better off using Thunderbird than Outlook? Things like missing emails seriously turn me off though.

I've never lost a single email due to a Thunderbird issue... the only problem I had was when a hard drive failed, which had nothing to do with Thunderbird.

Outlook is a monster. The sooner you shake that monkey off your back, the better :D

I have to agree with Kerosene, I have never had any problems with Thunderbird in 3 years, until last Saturday, and there's also another bug in the works for me, my 13 year old son just moved in full time, and I think it may possibly be a child associated problem but as usual my son doesn't recall doing anything.
Most crashes in my house over the years have been child related crashes (CRC's) Unfortunately instead of owning up to the actions, most children tend to put their hands behind their backs and say "I didn't touch anything".
My entire computer, including BIOS will now be backed up and the back up device will be buried under 6 feet of concrete and surrounded by land mines. lol
