Hey guys, I recently launched my site www.thecollegebroker.com and am really struggling to get traffic to my site. The site runs on WP and I have the all-in one wp plugin should I be using keywords or the content of the page for meta? When I do content I'm getting words from the navigation bar and not actually the article. I'm using Adwords but have very minimal turn around...any tips would be greatly appreciated.
For meta tags, its of no use for google, they focus on the content of a page, tracks spammy keywords. Although metatags still have some good value for Yahoo or Bing. A little summary and short description of website can be very handy for meta-tags, longer tags can flag spam by search engines. To get better result on SERP you must create unique content, a few keywords should be used in site-content and they should not repeat anyway, keyword placement in first 800-1000 words are preferred. You must follow the steps to drive traffic as well as boost SEO benefits: - Write unique content for your pages, content must not be similar to any site. - Optimize your keywords for better result. - Make a human sitemap. - Make a Google or Yahoo sitemap. - Use search engine friendly URLs. - Use search engine friendly navigation - Get some quality backlinks. If your pages get good backlinks they will be automatically crawled by search engine bots.
First put meta tags on all the pages then try to improve keywords density on pages. For getting visitors and traffic you need to perform off page SEO for the website. Do classified posts, B2B promotions, article submissions, social bookmarking and apply other off page seo techniques
It is common for a new blog not to get a lot of traffic. Don't worry about it. Use Adwords keyword tool and select keywords that is related to your niche. Try to select one or two keyword for one blog post. Try not to select highly competitive keywords. Maybe less than 100 or N/A type of keywords can help you. Plus, you can bookmark your site on digg in order to get indexed quickly on google. Have you install google xml sitemap plugin? It helps to get your indexed faster with new contents too. Next, you need to serious build some quality backlinks using your targeted keywords. Only dofollow links will help you in google serp ranking. Continuous link building and new content creation will bring the results you need in long run.
you need to research words that are relevant to your site, drive traffic but have relatively low competition. You then need to target certain pages of your site towards these keywords and build links into these pages. These are the basic principles anyway. Also try SEO plugins.
