If you have a website that has a lot of outbound links (affiliate websites), what is the best thing to do. Can I hide these links so search engines would not see site as promoting affiliates and also how do I set it so you give no pr to the affiliate websites on site.

Any advice please on what is best to do if your site will have a lot of affiliate links on it?

    Thanks

As I know, you can't hide links from search crawlers. Besides, why would you want to do that? Many outgoing links don't harm your PR or SERPs. If you're pointing to some "bad" sites, search engine can penalize your site, but you probably know that already.

Also, why would you like to prevent giving PR to affiliate websites? You can do it by adding no follow attribute into HTML code.

    <a href="http://www.example.com/" rel="nofollow">health site</a> site.

Outbound links indicate to search engines what kind of "neighborhood" your site is in. If your affiliates are all related to what is on your site, you should be fine.

Just make sure that your affiliates are indeed related to your content. If search engines find out that you are just selling links indiscriminately to the highest bidder, they could blackball you all together.

Just make sure that your links are relevant with your site's theme/content.. You could use the no follow attribute for your links if you want

Thanks for the replies, the reason I asked was I had read somewhere if your links on website far outnumber the amount of links others have for you, this is not any good and can damage you (not sure of source now or if this is true).

So is it better for example, if I had 1000 company links on my site ok and to have these so all were no follow, or to have them without it, would it make any difference.

If you put no follow tags on links, this will affect those sites - it won't help their PR and SERPs, but it won't make any difference for your site's PR or SERPs.

Links you have on your site can only harm youir PR or SERPS if they point to what is called "bad neighbourhood" sites. It is Google's decision which sites it consideres as bad, but I guess sites which are known as 'link farms' at least.

Problem with having many links on the site is, if you have no other content.
