Any experts able give me an insight into why a site would rank for keywords

    keyword1 keyword2

    but not

    keyword2 keyword1

broad match ie no quotes or [ Is there anything I can do to make this site rank for both variations or , given enough time will this just happen by itself?

    Thanks guys

Build links for both of them.. Order isn't important and just using that keyword in contents won't help much.

    Because keyword1 keyword2 is less competitive than keyword2 keyword1.

Yeah that makes sense, so basically if I use keyword2 keyword 1 as my anchor text when link building then this phrase will eventually rank up there with the first one. It seems therfore that keyword order is important - thats interesting - thanks fellas

order does matter... google is getting smarter everyday.. now they are taking the semantics of phrase into consideration..

if key2 key1 is rarely used in real world...non sensical.. you have better luck ranking it but it is of less value as the search volume will be much less.. it is in the category of "long tail" just like you are going after rarely searched phrase,

It does not matter, whether the keyword is first or second. The only thing is that you make backlinks for your website using keywords as a anchor text.
