    Hi Guys

I have downloaded a template, i need to change something within the template as advised by the owner in the documentation.

    I am getting the following:

The parameter file /templates/generic/params.ini is unwritable!

I need the unwritable to be writable. Where do i change it ? ? ?

If this is a file permissions issue you can change them with your FTP client, or if you are using a CPanel host you can log in, click on the file and change the permissions there. If you don't understand this, then it would be best if you write a short note to your webhost asking them for help.

There is no file name params.ini in your template. You may have downloaded the joomla 1.0 template.
You should use templates supported for joomla 1.5 to work with the current version of joomla.

I got this error when trying to install one of the themes . Later i understood that there was no file name params.ini in the template folder.

When i installed a joomla 1.5 supporting template, every thing was fine.

    Nopes!

You just cant install Joomla 1.0 template in a Joomla 1.5 site.
    Its impossible..
So you must have got a params.ini in your respective templates folder..
Just change the permissions to 777 and get set go.

you can use a 1.0 on 1.5 altho you need to enable legency mode from your plugins manager.. its also no advisable to do so as it can cause problems with mods & other extension which result in your layout going out of whack on certain pages..

Now params.ini <-- either use an ftp app or cpanel access and set to 755 or 777 if need be.. you can also save your self headaches in the future by ading your FTP details in the global config tab.. and allowing FTP transfers this will allow for your uploads / extensions to self correct the file permissions.

    Good luck
