If your hosting package does allow it, go to CPanel, click on addon domains and enter the details ie:

    mynewdomain.com

the password you enter is for FTP access to that domain only.

When you ftp into you root domain, you will then see the directory called mynewdomain.com, in there you place your files.

If you have no files in there, an surf to your new domain, you will get an error message, so I tent to just stick a simple index.html page in there so I know it's working OK.

yes from your Cpanel, This will create another folder in you root folder, with your domain name on it.

If your main website on which your hosting is 123.com you addon domain will look like abc.123.com, will look like a subdomain of your main domain.

Create the website in the new folder

If you want a separate cPanel for your addon, you might want to consider upgrading to a reseller account.

While the basic reseller is $24.95/mo., here's a little known secret. Email support and ask for the "green reseller" package. It's only $15.00/mo. It's not advertised, you have to ask for it.

That's what I've got and I've got plenty of room to work with, so far.
