I bought an account at FastNext.com a few months ago. I uploaded a small site to test the server for a month, then after another one of my host started jacking around I moved most of my small sites over. Then I decided to upload and host my new digital download store project with these guys because I was that impressed. This meant I needed to get a dedicated IP address for the SSL certificate. I submitted a ticket and waited impatiently as they changed all of my sites to a new ip. Four days later and many of my sites were not working, instead they were displaying the 'apache page' or a folder list of all of my sites (clicking on a folder went to the site). Revenue dropped 80% overnight, and I was ticked. I wrote a ticket to a 'supervisor' who then sent it to normal support staff that called me stupid and told me to quit complaining. I called their phone number and got some guy who spoke horrendous english and just yelled "they are fixing it now" over and over before saying goodbye. Even angrier I continued calling and sending in tickets until I was finally told that my whole account would be moved to a new server with a dedicated IP to alleviate all the problems I was having with the DNS. I was told my sites would not be deleted on the old server until the DNS updated fully with ISP's (about 72 hrs). Now my login password has been changed, and even after requesting it I have not gotten the reset password. And my sites have been deleted off of the old IP addresses so that only one is accessible. What should my next course of action be? legal action? should I just keep waiting? update: it took awhile buy my password was finally sent to me.
There's not much you can do now. If the data has been deleted off the old server, you will just have to wait for the DNS to finish propagating. Hopefully your sites will show up after those 72 hours. Legal action does not work 99% of the time and it's not worth the effort. 1) Getting back your money is going to be hard 2) Suing them won't make you any money but will end up costing you time and money And if your sites don't come back, add it to your hosting experience and find a better hosting company. I know it sounds like giving up but that really is the best thing to do. It's not worth your time and energy to argue the point as it seems you have already done alot of arguing with them already.
I've been scammed a lot on this way. That's why i started with my own dedicated and with hosting some friends and now 10 months later i have a company hosting over 300 websites, the key is being user friendly And you can't take legal action against this unless you want to spend a lot of money
its retarded. Early this morning all but one of hte websites were resolved to the new ip address. Then in a few hours when I checked again two more were not resolved correctly. A few hours later five websites were not resolved correctly. Then I get an email from About.com, one of my sites was about to be listed by the 'Guide' said when he visited only an Apache Page came up. I checked the ip address and it was suddenly pointing to the right ip, but when I visited I got the Apache page. The guide told me he would consider me again in the future (like 3-4 months from now) possibly costing me thousands of visitors.
Well, if you have a backup of your sites you can just move to another host because their staff doesn't seem to be friendly at all.
I plan on moving tomorrow if this does not get resolved in the morning. According to my phone conversation they are all in the UK so about 6hrs ahead of me. here is a glimpse of what is happening. The domains are starred out so it doesn't look like im spamming them. The ip addresses in bold are the wrong ones. These are the last two ip addresses they gave me. .25 was the first and .61 the second. As you can see some websites were never resolved to the .61 ip address. .66 is a new ip on an entirely new server. Something tells me these guys are not the best with updating their nameservers.
69.72.149.61 >> Apache page 69.72.149.25 >> Apache Page 69.72.208.66 >> radiorevolt.com This is what I'm seeing from my location Did you order 1 dedicated IP for an account that has add-on domains in it ?
yes. I did. .66 is my dedicated IP address. I ordered it when I made my order, but they did not give it to me until I opened a trouble ticket for SSL encryption. That is what is causing this entire mess. I asked that they NOT delete the old files off of the servers until the DNS's had fully propogated. They agreed then deleted them the next day without telling me. And radiorevolt.com is hosted elsewhere. I told them that when I signed up but used it as the domain because I had wanted to move the site eventually. I asked if that could be the problem, but no answer so far.
Whats the domain you are using to verify the dns problem? Radiorevolt isn't pinging your dedicated IP (As you said, its hosted elsewhere).
Wow, that is a joke, you are much too nice. You need to move away from them asap Any company that yells at their clients, should not be in business. In addition, when you need a dedicated ip for an ssl, only ONE domain needs the ip, not all of your sites. Yes, sometimes you can get that apache page when the new ip is propagating, but that usually doesn't last more than a couple hours. You're getting stiffed..
the following is the end of our morning conversation. As for the question above when you ping a domain name it tells you the ip address that the DNS server will look for it at, this is shown below. Radio Revolt should not have to be located on the server for the other domains to work. Notice how my only LLLL.com domain name was correct last night, but this morning is wrong. This is the kind of crap I have been dealing with for over a week. I am looking for a suitable replacement and have asked them for a month of free hosting... we'll see what they do. Pinging ******.com [69.72.149.61] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging **********.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging *****************.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ***********.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging **********.us [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ****.com [69.72.149.25] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ***************.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of Pinging ******************.com [69.72.149.61] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ******-******.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data
and my anger and frustration has hit it's climax. I am freaking done with these jokers. I will find a new host, if only temporary and move everything out. Earlier all but 3 websites had propogated correctly to the new ip address. Now there are 6 that have not. That means 3 that were correct earlier are now wrong! wtf. how does this crap happen? Can someone explain how this is possible? Domains in bold have gone from being correct to being incorrect within the last 12 hours. Pinging ******.com [69.72.149.61] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging *************.com [69.72.149.61] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ***********.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ***********.com [69.72.149.25] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ************.us [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ***************.com [69.72.208.66] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging ****.com [69.72.149.25] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging *****************.com [69.72.149.61] with 32 bytes of data: Pinging *****-*****.com [69.72.149.25] with 32 bytes of data:
Try Reverse IP http://www.domaintools.com/reverse-ip/?hostname=69.72.208.66 Shows 3 domains location to that IP
thanks for that. the sons of b**ches. Why on earth do my sites keep going from one IP to the next?? EDIT: wtf. Those three domains are the ones that were not resolved earlier. Now all the ones that were are no longer correct.... OMFG!
