Help with google analytics

The stats for my site show that I have had 250 visitors today. When I check google analytics it shows only 4 visits. I am having a hard time figuring out where I am at. I had a day this month that adsense showed 109 page views and analytics showed 0 visits. Any one have any idea on what is going on. Thanks for your help.

My guess is that the Analytics code isn't applied to every page in your site correctly.

I think so. Just put your code to every page of your site. I think you just put it in homepage

Google analytics is not real time.

YEP.. GA is going to be at least 2-3 hours behind.. and you also have to verify that it's being displayed on EVERY page.
one other thing is that free stat-counters will count hits from bots, scrapers, and other non-human visitors. GA will only count 'real' visitors.

I find that theres always differences between, for example adsense, analytics and awstats, i just sort of gather an average from them all.

I have a question about interpreting the number of people who visit your site per month and the number of visits. On the visitors page is the point graph, just below it is the number of people who visited the site (in grey). Below this is a number of visits and below this a number of unique visitors. So what is the difference between the number of people who visit a site and number of visits?

The difference is the number of people are unique visitors, whereas visits simply means if I visit your site, and then visit it again, it will count as 2 visits.
