Hi guys. I am using google adwords. Have just started out using google adwords for my own transport business. Have done a lot of research on my keywords etc, not using broad match for my keywords.

What I do not understand is the adgroups default bids eg. Search and content automatic placements etc?

I have a limit on my adwords to £10 per day and have entered 1.50 for search and 1.50 for content:automatic placements.

    What is search for?

I have noticed for today for my keywords. I have had 1300 impressions and it says I have 6 clicks, with the average position of 2.6, but when I look at the keywords individually all the keywords have 0 clicks by them. Why is this?

Can anyone help or advise please. Cheers

There are 2 types of ad networks that Google uses -
'search'. which are the sponsored listings that appear on search pages when people put a keyword in the search box
and 'content' - which are the ads you see on blogs etc.

Google always bundles these together - which is very sharp practice, in fact I'd say it's a bit evil, as most new advertisers who are doing it for themselves, have no idea they've opted into both.

The reason you have clicks and impressions without keywords, is because they are on the content network.

If you want to use both networks - fine - but do not have them in the same campaign. They use keywords differently, people read ads differently on a search page than they do on a blog, and the pricing, ctr - everything about them is different. Typically you get loads of impressions on content but a very much lower ctr. - (low ctr for content does not depress your Quality Rate for search, they are considered separately)
If you want both - have one campaign for search, where you turn off content, and one for content, where you turn off search.

Thanks for your reply Magda. Yeah, I definetely do not want my ads appearing on 3rd party sites. Just want them to appear in google search. I have now got my adgroup search set at 1.50. Is there a way of stopping ads showing on 3rd party sites. ie blogs. Because my content: automatic placements is set to auto?

Think I have discovered it. Its in my campaign settings-networks,devices and extensions - Let me choose radio button and then just select the search tab and untick content tab. Think thats right....correct me if I am wrong. Cheers Magda
